    Biography

    Michael J. Zobel, M.D. is currently a resident in the UCSF Department of Surgery. He received his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of USC, graduating with Distinction in Research and as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. Earlier he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Southern California, where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, receiving degrees in Biological Sciences and Business Administration.

    Beginning in the summer of 2018, Dr. Zobel spent two years as a Surgery Research Fellow at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, working with Dr. Eugene Kim to identify novel treatments for the aggressive childhood cancer, neuroblastoma.

    Dr. Zobel is a recipient of the American College of Surgeons Resident Research Scholarship. He has published three peer-reviewed papers with two additional publications currently under review. Two of his research projects were presented at plenary podiums at the Pacific Coast Surgical Association conference: "Hyponatremia and Complex Biliary disease" and "Outcomes of Sutureless and Sutured Gastroschisis Closure".
