    Biography

    June Peng, MD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology, Section of HPB-GISS surgery based primarily at John Muir Health in Walnut Creek. She comes to the Department of Surgery from Penn State, where she has been on faculty since 2019. Dr. Peng moved to Baltimore after completing her undergraduate education at the University of Washington to attend the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic and then moved to Buffalo for her complex general surgical oncology fellowship at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2019. Hepatobiliary, gastric, and peritoneal surface malignancies are among Dr. Peng's clinical interests, as is the creation of, and expansion of, applications for minimally invasive treatments for advanced malignancies. She is board certified in general surgery and complex general surgical oncology and has participated actively in research, quality improvement and mentorship. Dr. Peng has co-authored 35 peer-reviewed publications and six invited articles/chapters and serves as a reviewer for multiple journals, in addition to being an active member of committees for the Society of Surgical Oncology, Americas HepatoPancreatoBiliary Association, and American Board of Surgery. Dr. Peng enjoys running, hiking, tennis, kayaking, and other outdoor activities outside of work. She appreciates visiting national parks and travel and is also a fan of British baking competitions.
