Biography
Bianca Bromberger, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Cardiac Surgery and Lung Transplantation at UCSF. She specializes in heart and lung transplantation as well as general cardiac surgery, caring for patients with advanced heart and lung disease who require complex surgical therapies. Dr. Bromberger is dedicated to combining technical expertise with compassionate care, helping patients navigate some of the most challenging decisions in cardiothoracic medicine.
Dr. Bromberger received her medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her general surgery residency at Columbia University / NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where she also pursued advanced training in surgical critical care and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). These experiences gave her a strong foundation in managing critically ill patients with advanced cardiopulmonary conditions.
Following residency, Dr. Bromberger came to UCSF to complete a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery, where she developed her expertise in transplantation and complex cardiac procedures. She subsequently joined the UCSF faculty, where her practice now encompasses heart and lung transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and a broad range of adult cardiac surgeries.
In addition to her surgical practice, Dr. Bromberger is committed to surgical education and mentorship, helping train the next generation of cardiothoracic surgeons. She is equally dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized care for her patients and their families, guiding them through complex treatment decisions with clarity and empathy. Her goal is to ensure that patients not only receive the highest level of surgical expertise but also feel supported and understood throughout their care journey.
